Aravind Swami to play a cop in 'Vangamudi'

The chocolate boy of the 90's Aravind Swami made a strong comeback into films with Mani Ratnam's 'Kadal'. Despite the film's commercial failure, the actor's role as a straight forward church priest was was highly appreciated by critics and fans. However the actor is in no hurry to sign offers and has become very selective in accepting roles.

Almost one and half years after the release of 'Kadal', Aravind Swami has signed his next film that will be directed by Selvaa. The 'Thalabathi' actor will be playing the lead role of a straight forward no nonsense cop in the flick that has been titled as 'Vanangamudi'. The rest of the cast and crew witll be finalized with July or August when the film is scheduled to go on floors.

Confirming his participation in the film Aravind Swami said he accepted the role because he liked the way Selvaa had developed the one-liner into a fully fledged script. The actor also confirmed that he will start working on the film soon.

Selvaa has said that 'Vanangamdui' is kind of a biography of a cop who is devoted to his job. The director has also revealed that Aravind Swami will have five different characterizations in the film.

It is to be noted that the actor and director are pairing up after a gap of 17 years. Earlier they had worked together for the 1997 super hit film 'Pudhayal'.
