'Holiday' surpasses 'Two States' collections

Amidst mixed reviews A.R.Murugadoss's second Bollywood directorial 'Holiday' is doing tremendous business at the box office. The film which is the remake of Tamil blockbuster 'Thuppakki' has Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles.

As per reliable trade sources from Bollywood, the film that released in 3,500 screens across the globe, has collected rupees 12 crores on its opening day and 40 crores in the first three day weekend.

The film's collections in the overseas box office are not as good as expected. However the film has attained the third spot in first three day collections of Bollywood film that have released this year, surpassing 'Two States' which collected 38.06 crores in the opening weekend. The films that have collected more than 'Holdiay' in the first weekend of release are Salman Khan's 'Jai Ho' (which again has story written by A.R.Murugadoss) and 'Gun Day' collecting 60.68 crores and 43.93 crores respectively on the opening weekend.
