The shootings of all Tamil films have been called off today (June 24) owing to the sudden demise of veteran director and producer Ramanarayanan.
Mr.Ramanarayanan (65) who has been suffering from a kidney related ailment passed away in Singapore on Sunday (June 22) where he was being treated in a private hospital. His holy corpse has reached has reached Chennai last night and it has been kept in his residence at Saraswathy Street, Mahalingapuram, Chennai. The cremation has been scheduled to take place in Kannamapet crematorium at 2 PM, today.
Many film industry organizations and celebrities have condoled the death of the senior director who has directed more than 125 films and many others have started visiting his home to pay their last respects.
Ramanarayanan has functioned as the president of Tamil Film Producers Council and as the MLA of Karaikudi Assembly constituency, through the DMK party ticket. Though he had resigned the party membership at a later stage he has maintained a cordial relationship with the party chief M.Karunanidhi. The Nonagenarian politician is expected to make a personal visit to the deceased director’s residence to pay homage.
