Remember the lunatic who roamed the village carrying a yellow thread in 'Chinna Thambi'? It has been two decades already since the movie released but this character has stayed in our minds till date. And the man who sported this role has come to be recognised as 'Chinna Thambi' Marthandam, despite the fact that he has acted in more than a hundred roles across film industries of different languages.
Despite a strong career in the cine field, Marthandam took to small screen, to teach the world the art of painting. Being an artiste himself by profession, Marthandam has wooed many with his talent and it is noteworthy that many leading actors are fans of his works. Now this gentleman is coming back to the silver screen in debutante Gypsy Rajkumar's 'Ayyanar Veedhi'.
Speaking on this project and his future plans, Marthandam revealed that though acting has been a passion all his life, he is naturally drawn to painting and spreading his knowledge by teaching others, what he knows. In line with that, he has written three books and features in two interactive TV series, teaching the various forms of painting in an easy-to-grasp manner. Future projects? Marthandam was elated to share that he had met Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan, both of who are his ardent fans, recently. Appreciating his works, the actors have extended their invitations to Marthandam to work with them on screen. "I'm looking forward to their call" says Marthandam.
