Suriya's Aaru has opened in a grand manner. Braving threats of a cyclonic storm, film-buffs queued up in large numbers to see Aaru at various cinema halls in Chennai and other parts of the State.

Aaru is the maiden production venture of director Saran for his Gemini Productions. Directed by Hari, his one-time associate, Aaru stars Suriya and Trisha in the lead roles. Music is by Devi Sri Prasad.

Not just in Tamilnadu, but Aaru has reportedly had a fantastic opening even in six cinema halls in Mumbai where it was simultaneously released on Friday. In Mumbai, Aaru has been released at Cine Planet, Fame, Cinemax, Max Adlabs, Regal and Megrath.

The Telugu version of Aaru is also released throughout Andhra Pradesh and is reportedly doing brisk business.

On the movie, Suriya, said, 'It was a different film. Though such action-packed movies were released before, Aaru was different and had intense action. Interestingly I spoke a typical Chennai dialect in the movie'.

An avid fan of Suriya says, 'the movie is racy and entertaining. Worth a watch'
