The Tamil Film Producers’ Council seems to have got the better off the television channels which were trying to call the shots.
After deciding to stop footages to TV channels, the Council has now come to a amicable compromise.
The new rule is that the channels will get a three-minute trailer of the films. But the clippings and songs would go to the channel that gets the satellite rights of the film.
T.G Thyagarajan, president of the Council said, the new system comes into effect from Pongal itself.
It has also been decided to not give the overseas satellite rights alone to any TV channel as it would clash with the rights within India.
Audio companies cannot sell the songs as ring tones.
