Vijayakanth's Perarasu, which is lying in the cans for a long time was expected to be released this Pongal.

Produced by Khaja Mohideen, Perarasu stars Vijayakanth in a dual role (the hero and the villain).

Unfortunately, troubles seemed to continue for the movie and it could not grace the theatres on Pongal leaving several Vijayakanth's fans disappointed.

Now the buzz is that all troubles are over and the movie might make it on the Republic day (26 January)

Meanwhile, the actor-turned politician Vijayakanth will begin his whirlwind tour all around the State beginning 19 January. He would meet people and begin his electoral campaign, which is expected to end on middle of March.
