The Theatres Association of Kanchipuram, Chengalpet, South Arcot and Thiruvallur have threatened to impose a red card on screening Vijay's films if the losses suffered by them by screening the actor's Pongal release Aathi is not compensated by the producer S A Chandrasekhar (Vijay's father).

Addressing mediamen, an office-bearer of the association said, 'they had bought the movie at an exorbitant cost since his earlier films had a very good run. However at the last minute, the producer announced that the movie would not release on the Pongal day. As a result of which we suffered a loss of over Rs one crore.'

Efforts to contact S A Chandrasekhar have gone in vain. When a letter was shot to him asking him to compensate the loss, he said it was not up to him and urged us to contact the film's distributor Pankaj Mehta. How can a distributor be accountable for a delayed release?'

Going further, they asserted that unless their losses are compensated they would not screen any of the Vijay's films in future.

Elsewhere it is good news for Vijay. The actor who had shelved his Puli with S J Suryah is all set to go ahead with Murasu that will be directed by Muthuvadugu and produced by Swargachitra Appachan.

A strong race is on for the heroine’s slot.
