The feud in Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has manifested into a big problem. It is now threatening to affect the daily functioning of the industry. With over two dozen films under production worth several crore of rupees, several technicians now pray for an amicable solution to the issue at the earliest.
Never in the history of the Tamil cinema that the premises of the TFPC had been sealed by the officials of the Madras High Court, they say with despair.
The Nadigar Sangam, which has taken sides with the faction led by A M Rathnam, has now given space at their premises in Chennai for the TFPC to function. Meanwhile, the rival group led by Thyagarajan, who was stripped off the presidency of the TFPC recently by Rathnam and his men, has knocked on the doors of the court.
Says unit hands and other workers who depend on cinema: ‘Such developments create a fear amongst us. This may dissuade people from other languages coming to produce movie here. Unless veteran producers, directors and actors try and make attempts to bring two factions to the table and arrive at a solution, the future of Tamil cinema looks very bad.’
