After some unseemly and vexatious battle, Tamil Film Producer Council (TFPC) president Sathyajothy Thyagarajan has formally resigned from his post.
His resignation has brought cheers in A M Rathnam camp.
It was business as usual at the TFPC office in Chennai where the seal kept by the Madras High Court last week, was removed on Tuesday evening after Thyagarajan withdrew the cases against Rathnam and his men.
Talking to mediamen, a jubilant A L Azhagappan, general secretary of the council said, 'All things have been sorted out following his resignation. Having moved back into the premises our next task is to continue our battle with satellite channel (read Sun TV)'
Meanwhile, TFPC has convened the meeting of the executive council and have decided to elect one of the existing vice presidents to succeed Thyagarajan.
It looks certain that Rathnam would be chosen for the job.
Thyagarajan on Monday night sent the resignation letter to the council through veteran director K Balachandar.
He had stated in the letter: 'I am resigning for the welfare of the film industry. My father is unwell and the mental agony has affected my performance'.
