Chitra Palekar debuts at 59

People think of relaxing at 50s but this lady is all set to debut in direction at 59 years of age.

After 25 years in the film making business Chitra Palekar will direct her first film Maati Maay starring Nandita Das and Atul Kulkarni. The story is based on Mahasweta Devi's story Baayen (Witch) on a woman gravedigger with an infant son.

Chitra is ex-wife of Amol Palekar and has written screenplay of Thodasa Roomani Ho Jayen and Dhyasparva, co-scripted for Bangarwadi and also acted and produced for Akriet. She has also been associate director and scriptwriter for Kairee and scripted Daayra.
