Yesteryear actress Jyothi, who made a mark in acting through Vijaya T Rajendher's Rayil Payanangalil and Rajinikanth starrer Puthu Kavithai, breathed her last in a private hospital in Chennai on Friday.

Suffering from breast cancer, Jyothi was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai a few days ago. She did not respond to the treatment and died on Friday night.

The funeral would be performed on Saturday.

She shot to fame playing heroine in several movies in the 80s and her good performance won her many fans.
