Veyyil has revived the fortunes of director Vasanthabalan. The young director made his mark as director with Album starring Aryan Rajesh and Sruthika. The movie did not do well at the box office. However thanks to his mentor Shankar, he set things right with Veyyil.

The movie not only ran to packed houses in Tamilnadu but also won critical acclaim.

The movie being selected for screening at the coveted Cannes Film Festival hogged the headlines.

Vasanthabalan had been to Cannes to attend the special screening along with his producer Shankar recently.

Now adding one more feather in his cap is the movie being selected for screening at the Shanghai Film Festival next month.

Considered to be one of the prestigious film festivals in Asia, Shanghai Festival would feature the best of Asian Film. It is indeed a pride for Tamil film industry that Veyyil has managed to find a place at Shanghai Festival.
