Speaking at a mega function organized at Nehru Indoor Stadium on Sunday to celebrate the success of Pokiri, Kamal Haasan said, “Vijay should be thankful to his father (S A Chandrasekhar), who helped his son to make it big in the industry”.

He distributed trophies and shields to the cast and crew of the movie on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, veteran director K Balachander heaped laurels on Vijay for his dedication and commitment to excel on the screen.

Sathyaraj, veteran producers K R G also spoke on the occasion.

Pokiri, directed by Prabhudeva starring Vijay and Asin went on to achieve success by running over 200 days in several screens across the State.

A mega cultural show was organized on the occasion in which music composer Srikanth Deva rendered a musical show followed by dance shows by actresses including Namitha, Malavika, Kiran and Chaya Singh among others.

A dance show featuring physically challenged, choreographed by Larencce Ragava drew the attention of thousands of Vijay fans on the occasion.
