When the members of Tamil film industry gathered in a huge number in Chennai for the hunger strike over the issue of Hoganekkal water project, a small unit went on fasting on the same day for the same cause in a different place. The unit of Tamizh Desam, which was shooting in Perambalur, decided to sit on fasting in the shooting spot itself.

The cast and crew of the movie went on fasting in front of the Engineering Collage, where the shooting was being held. Everyone including Hero Raghuvannan (son of Manivannan), heroine Varshini alias Aadhira, and director Thamizh Selva raised slogans against Kannadigas in the hunger strike.

The protest immediately attracted the attention of the local people and the local units of leading Tamil TV channels. The protest became a sensational one following the gathering of lot of people and the media persons.
