Actor-playwright and director Mouli was honored with 'For the Sake of Honor Award' conferred on him by Rotary Club of Madras Besant Nagar at its Charter Nite on Wednesday.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mouli said, 'in our early days, we were much impressed by Cho's plays. I then decided to focus on dialogue writing to stage full-length hilarious plays,' he said.
Mouli recalled that UAA troupe founder Y G Parthasarathy molded him in the nascent stage of his career.
From 1966 to late 80s, he was fully engrossed in scripting and staging plays which were a blend of satire and humor laced with social themes.
Then his film career took off from 1989. He penned dialogues for several entertainers and directed many a social and hilarious movies.
Recently, he hogged the limelight for directing Kamal starrer ‘Pammal K Sambantham’ and another flick ‘Nala Damayanthi’ with Madhavan in the lead.
In his felicitation, dramatist - actor Crazy Mohan said but for the guidance of Mouli at the right time, he would not have achieved success as a story and dialogue writer in both films and stage plays.
