Tragedy at 'Sarvam', 'Anthony Yaar' shooting
IndiaGlitz [Monday, June 23, 2008]

Shooting for the film 'Sarvam' was planned at an 11-storey-under-construction building near Gemini flyover in Chennai.

A scene was planned at the topmost floor and a make shift elevator was installed to carry the shooting equipment. Unfortunately, the lift collapsed killing two people on the spot and injuring two more with severe bleeding. The injured have been rushed to hospital.

'Sarvam' is directed by Vishnuvardhan and features Arya and Trisha in lead roles.

In another unfortunate incident at the sets of 'Anthony Yaar' a crew member's fingers were severed after huge shooting equipment fell on his hand in Ori near Thiruchendur.

A comedy sequence featuring Shaam and Vivek was to be shot when the tragedy occurred. The injured has been rushed to hospital and the shooting cancelled.

The Tamil film industry has been plagued with unfortunate incidents of late causing injury and loss of life.

Are these wake- up calls to strictly adhere to fool-proof safety standard measures?
