Tamil Cinema which was hitherto shunned by popular television channel 'Makkal' has published in its press release that awards for Best Tamil Film and Best Tamil Short Film would feature as two of 31 categories for which prizes would be given away on the 12th of January at the Chettinad Vidhyasharam School premises.

Walks of life that are usually not acknowledged by society at large will feature in this Awards Ceremony. Awards for Best Farmer, Best Publishing House, Best Sculptor, Best School, Best College, best Tamil Writer, Best Sportsperson, Best Environmentalist, Best Citizen etc have been instituted.

According to the press release, a twenty member committee has been formed and they would finalize as to who the deserving winners are.
