When the British packed their bags and left in 1947, not everyone in India was rejoicing….in actuality there were about three lakh people who were silent spectators with lumps in their throats. The Anglo Indian community felt bereaved as in losing a parent. For all of those who were more Anglo than Indian (those who knew no other language than English) tears rolled down cheeks as helpless eyes stared into the vacant future. They had no choice but to stay on.

Gradually over the years the inevitable was bound to happen. The Anglo Indian Identity waned merging with the Indian mainstream. A culture slowly drifting in time's compulsive path.

Vetri Maaran, director of the blockbuster 'Polladhavan' starring Dhanush is working on his next project and is showcasing Anglo Indians in his story. Though not much is known about the film yet, it is clear that Dhanush would play the lead again and that the entire film would be shot in Madurai.

It appears that the protagonist of the story (enacted by Danush) falls in love with an Anglo Indian girl who lives in Madurai.

Can the girl accept Dhanush's love wholeheartedly? Does the thirst for the Anglo Indian identity prevent her? Is her family adamant that they have to be responsible enough to keep their identity going as best as they can? It is not known if the film answers these questions or for that matter harps on them at all….but then it sure makes the speculation interesting….
