The multi-faceted persona, Bhagyaraj is a director, actor, script-writer and producer. He made super duper hits in the time of 80s and early 90s. Being an assistant of veteran director Bharathiraja, Bhagyaraj learnt every nuance of filmmaking in his stable.

Even before debuting as a director, he penned the scripts for Bharathiraja's hit films like 'Kizhake Pogum Rayil' and 'Tik Tik Tik'. His first stint as a director with 'Suvarillatha Chittirangal' gained him fame. Later, he also established a production company and made distinct entertainers that all went good at the box office.

Bhagyaraj often poses himself in witty, satirical and humor evoking characters which still appeals to the audience. Movies made by him are usually based on social themes which also carries a prominent message for the community. Lastly, debuting his daughter Saranya, he directed 'Parijatham' that made a good run. Now, Bhagyaraj is directing 'Puthiya Varpugal' starring his son Shanthanu as the hero. The veteran director celebrates his birthday today on 7th January.
