 At a time when global recession is threatening every business, the members of Tamil Film Distributors Association and Tamil Film Producers Council had an emergency meeting in Chennai on Wednesday in which various issues threatening the survival of the industry were discussed.
Taking part in the meeting, the distributors urged the producers to reduce the production cost of films and introduce a cut in the remuneration of actors, which has sky-rocketed in the recent past.
Expressing their displeasure at newly-released Tamil movies being screened ion satellite channels with in a month of its release, they urged the producers council to ensure that restriction like only two movies per week should be screened in one week can be introduced.
It was decided that a final decision would be taken at their next meeting in April. Tamil Film Producers Council president Rama Narayanan, Tamil Distributors Association chief Sundar among others attended.
