It’s now become natural to expect Sathyaraj to play the role of Periyar or some leader he has a fancy for, but we were subject to a big surprise when we passed AVM Studios and caught the actor all dressed and decked like a king. Surprised?

Sure as hell we were. And when we began our little exploration, a birdie revealed that this was not Sathyaraj in his looks for any movie but for a commercial.

Yeah, you read that right. It’s a TV COMMERCIAL. The actor, 33 years after his first film as a hero, has signed up to play a king for a jewellery major in the city. We’re not spoiling the suspense about which jewellery store wanted him to model, but we can give you a clue. Try asking MS Bhaskar or actress Seetha which store it is because they were the two dressed as a minister and a queen posing beside him for the commercial!
