For a season that has not soon a lot of releases, today, April 24, seems to be an important day. Three anticipated film, each in a different genre, have hit the screens: 'Guru En Aalu', 'Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravum' and 'Mariyadhai'. The first of the lot, 'Guru En Aalu', is a perfect rib tickler. It features Madhavan and Abbas together after 'Minnale'. Mamta Mohandas plays the lead of the film which has been ready for release for over five months now. The film is an adaptation of 'Yess Boss', and is about a wealth-seeking employee Madhavan, who works for a voyeuristic boss, Madhavan. Mamta Mohandas is loved by both these men and how they all attain what they want is the crux of this film, which also has Vivek playing an important role. 'Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravum', on the other hand, is a village subject, and features a complete set of new comers. This is Capitol Film Works next production after the highly successful 'Chennai 600028', which was also a summer release two years ago. This movie is being directed by Rajamohan, a debutant, and features Ramakrishna, a new comer, as the lead. Ramakrishna was an assistant director to Cheran before he landed this acting offer. The movie is a complete love story. And topping the list is 'Mariyadhai', which has a heavy duty star cast of Vijayakanth (a dual role, a double whammy!), Meera Jasmine, Ambika, Ramesh Khanna and so on. The film is directed by Vikraman and distributed by Raj Network. This movie will have Vikraman's usual mix of sentiment, humour and family values. With the three films out on screens today, it remains to be seen which one will be the biggest hit.
