"Original guns were used in UPO"

IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, September 30, 2009]

Ganesh Venkatram is on cloud nine ever since Kamal Haasan's 'Unnaipol Oruvan' hit the screens. For, the former Mr India's mobile phone has not stopped ringing thanks to calls congratulating him for his role of a tough cop in the film. Brimming with happiness, the actor reveals a secret about the movie. "Kamal sir and director Chakri Toleti wanted to make the film realistic in all aspects. We even used original guns to make things look realistic," he says.

Claiming that he underwent training in Poona as the characterisation was so powerful, Ganesh, who made his acting debut in Tamil cinema with 'Abhiyum Naanum', says, "Kamal sir helped me a lot in deliver the performance with perfection."

And Ganesh is no different when we ask him about his goals. "I want to establish myself as an actor who can do versatile roles. I am ready to play challenging characters like the one I did in Unnaipol Oruvan," he says.
