In his address, filmmaker Ameer said, "Lots of youngsters are making their foray into filmdom and trying their hand at innovative themes. 'Renigunta' would be one such movie to watch out for."

Director A R Murugadoss said, "the songs and the visuals are interesting. They seem to promise a lot."

Others took part at the event include Tamil Film Producers Council president Rama Narayanan, cinematographer P C Sreeram, filmmakers N Lingusamy, Balaji Sakthivel, actors Silambarasan and Jeeva.

The movie, directed by debutant Panneerselvam and produced by Mahendrakumar Jain, features prominent producer NIC Arts Chakravarathy's son Johnny in the lead. A newcomer Sanusha from Kerala makes her debut.

The movie has music by Ganesh Ragavendran, great grandson of veena exponent S Balachander.
