The countdown has come to an end. Paving way for a new beginning, Captain TV, a long time dream of DMDK president Vijayakanth and his party cadre has become a reality today, with the television channel starting its telecast this morning.

The channel was formally launched by the actor-politician in the wee hours of today at Vaanagaram, a suburb of Chennai. His wife Premalatha, close aides and senior officials of the television channel were present on the occasion.

"Films, movie-based programmes, news bulletins, reality shows, awareness programmes, serials and sting operations will be presented to the viewers in a nice package. Captain TV will not be your usual television channel," says L K Sudeesh, the chief executive officer.

"We have roped in citizen journalists in most of the Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu to provide us with news and happening," he says and adds: "We have got the telecast rights of more than 100 films."
