Two small budget films are hitting the screen today, with big hopes. One is 'Krishnaveni Panjaalai', a period film, and the other is 'Appu Pappu', a comedy caper.

Krishnaveni Panjaalai

Directed by debutant Dhanapal Padmanabhan, the film has Hemachandra, Nandana, M S Bhaskar, Rajeev Krishna and Bala Singh among others in lead roles. The film is set in the backdrop of the 1980s and is about the lives of workers in a cotton mill. Music is by Raghunandan of 'Thenmerku Paruvakatru' fame.

Appu Pappu

The story revolves around a boy and a Cambodian orangutan. Directed by Anantharaju, the film has Master Snehith, Rangayana, Raghu and Abbas in lead roles. Originally a Kannada flick, it has now been dubbed for the Tamil audience. It is said to be inspired from Hollywood's 'Dunston Checks In'.
