Among all south Indian languages in nine categories 'Generation Next' category has been picked. Tamil actor Dhanush, Shruthi Hassan, Peter Haynes, Sonu Sood, Amala Paul, Naani, Lakshmi Rai are the other names picked for this category.
Puneeth Rajakumar as best actor, Ramya as best actress, Rebel star Ambarish for lifetime achievement award, Upendra for special award. Among other categories for 'Sanju Weds Geetha' - best director, actress, cameraman, villain, lyricist were presented. V Harikrishna, Akanksha Badami, Avinash Chebbi, Sadhu Kokila, Aindrita Ray, debutant Srikanth, SIIMA Sri to Shivarajakumar, special appreciations to Nidhi Subbaiah and producer KV Sathyaprakash for Sarathi were also feted in the maiden SIIMA awards.
SIIMA, involves Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam industries one-of-its-kind endeavor to present South Indian Cinema on a global platform. The Next Gen awards were presented to the young guns of South Indian Film Industry who have left a mark nationally. The evening was hosted by beauty queen Parvathy Omanakuttan.
Stars such as Rana Dagubbati, Diganth, Ajmal Manchale, Shriya Saran, Lakshmi Rai, Andrita Ray, Parul Yadav, Charmee, Richa Gangopadhya and many more were seen setting the stage on fire. The eve was attended by a huge number of stars from the four industries.
