The 50 days event of successful Kannada cinema 'Dhandupalya' by Apple Blossom Prashanth and Girish in the direction of Srinivasaraju has been cancelled due to protests.
 
'Dhandupalya' received brickbats from the start of the film and at various stages it made news for wrong reasons. Pooja Gandhi back shown in the posters also called for protests. Now even after success of the film the protests continue. That is mainly because of the recent killings in real life in Bangalore and other places. The murders pointed to the after effects of 'Dhandupalya'. The culprits admitted that they were inspired to kill from 'Dhandupalya' cinema.
 
As a result various social organizations condemned the film makers. With such condemnation the 50 days celebration would lead to complications felt director Srinivasa Raju and cancelled the event.
 
For investment of Rs.3 crores plus on 'Dhandupalya' it had made Rs.7 crores gross is the calculation.
 
On Friday night at the briefing of 'Edegarike' former don now reformed Agni Sridhar attacked a section of media and bureaucracy of Karnataka police for framing innocent 'Dhandupalya' people in murder charges. As a writer and journalist knowing closely the crime happened what Agni Sridhar wants to say is that 'Dhandupalya' people are not killers. They are thieves not dare enough to kill. I feel perturbed with a Kannada film made on wrong findings. It is very pathetic feels Agni Sridhar.
 
On Friday there was announcement from producer Yogish Hunsur, director MS Ramesh on 'Dhandupalya-2'. Director Srinivasa Raju announced the sequel at the last shot of the film 'Dhandupalya'. Now he is against to the sequel.
