Universally Brothers (as also Maatraan) have suffered from two strident criticisms: Its length, and the laughable folly of revealing who the villain is in the first half itself.
Bellamkonda Suresh, the producer of the Telugu version, stepped in with a solution. He has killed two birds with one stone by chopping off 30 minutes. Besides looking well-trimmed, it has ensured that the villain's identity is not revealed till the climax!
Suresh says that just as Rangam took time to become popular among the audience, so too Brothers will take some time. "It is a film with a social message. Films of this kind usually take time to reach the audience," he says.
