The capital city of Thiruvananthapuram will have its most popular festival apart from Onam- the IFFK from today.The festival to be inaugurated today at the Nishagandhi Auditorium at Kanakakunnu by Superstar Mohanlal wil go on to eight days , till the 14th of this month screening 200 films.
More than 7000 delegates have already assembled to watch the event that will have 12 venues including Kala Bhavan, Sree Padmanabha Theatre, Anjali Theatre, Dhanya and Remya theatres, Kairali complex, New Theatre, Kripa and Ajanta theatres. 14 movies from Asian, Latin American and African countries are are in the race for the much coveted 'suvarnachakoram'(Golden Crow Pheasant) in IFFK They include 'Yema' from Algeria; 'A Terminal Trust' from Japan; 'Today' from Senegal'; 'The Repentant' again from Algeria; 'Sta. Nina' from Philippines; 'Present Tense' from Turkey; 'My Universe in Lower Case' from Mexico; 'The Last Step' from Iran; 'Nos Vemos Papa' also from Mexico; and 'Ivan's Women' from Chile and two Malayalam films, T.V. Chandran's 'Inheritors of the Earth' (Bhoomiyude Avakashikal). and 'Shutter', a movie from debutant director Joy Mathew, which has Srinivasan in the lead again along with Lal.The other Inian films in the section are first-time director Kamal K.M.'s Hindi film I.D.and Nitin Kakkar's 'Filmistan'.
