At a joint consultative meeting of Tamil film industry in Chennai on Monday attended by producers and directors, it was decided to support Kamal Haasan's decision to air 'Viswaroopam' on DTH platform a day before its theatrical release.
The meeting was attended by office-bearers of Producers Council, Tamil Film Directors Association and Producers Guild, among others.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, popular filmmaker Bharathiraja said Kamal's DTH decision would not affect collections in cinema halls.
Producer-director Keyar said that Kamal is attempting something new and the industry has to support it. "It is a new revenue model for producers," he said.
It is to be noted that theatre owners expressed their opposition to Kamal's decision to air the movie on DTH.
