Indiaglitz brings to you an array of Directors who have redefined Kollywood's romantic genre. Its only right to call them Love gurus as they have not just delighted us with breezy "Kadhal" stories but more often given us ideas in our daily love-struck life.
Tamil Cinema's belt of love stories definitely owe to this ace director, who has carved a niche among romantic genres. When we talk about Mani, we always think about his lateral way of movie making where he induces love as a phenomenal factor to the plot. The plot might be a racy terrorist story, an action thriller but the backdrop most probably is Love.
The tale of two love stories in a single movie is not legendary, but the uniqueness lies beneath how it unfolds. In the Cherishing first part Mani makes you laugh at Karthik's antics to win Revathy's love. In the second half it's more of a beautiful spinning love which blooms in accordance with understanding and patience. Mohan's subtle nature juxtaposed with Revathy's turnaround character gives the best piece of onscreen chemistry. Not to forget Maestro's BGM and music, adding more than life and soul to the movie, with P.C.Sreeram only making it bigger.
When we say "cult", it means a trend, style and so on. Ahem, that's what Alaipayuthey has done to us. The director has carefully analyzed the love routine of a normal couple and presented it in an amicable manner. The stand out nature of the movie is that "In Love all is Bliss, but in marriage all is adjustment", that as the theme, Director has woven an amazing story. Maddy and Shalini became the poster couple for a long time and the striking part is that, most of us could relate ourselves to them. Rahman's usual blend of harmony to the story is a vibration to the ears.
Love is powerful. Amen to that! What can Love make a naïve person do? It can make even the Indian army bend. One side of the plot has ruthless terrorists who would spare no hair to the Indian Government on their terms and the other side is Madhubala trying to convince half a dozen people to negotiate her husband's release. As AR.Rahman foray of symphony keeps striking throughout the movie, Mani has engraved a simple wife who leaps the depths of miracle to bring back her lovely husband. This film made us wonder how powerful Love can be, put to test it can create magic and no better Director had the courage to showcase this with such a backdrop.
It would not be fair if Bombay, Uyire, Nayagan, Thalapathi and many more are not mentioned at this juncture. How this lovable director can project Romance in such a decent and beautiful way is still a mystery, which is quite evident with the latest Kadal.
