After the grand success of 'Vishwaroopam', Kamal had promised a sequel to this movie. Currently, 'Vishwaroopam 2' is filming and it has been declared that the movie will also be released, utilising gripping sound technology, in Auro 3D. Kamal Hassan told the media "We are working on 'Vishwaroopam 2'. We are quite charged up for it. The sequel will come in 3D."
'Vishwaroopam' will be remembered for many years to come, not just for the very movie, but also for the nasty spat that it created, with a section of the society abandoning its release. The film was made on a budget of Rs 95 crores, but was prevented from releasing in Tamil Nadu and a few other states. But later when it did release, there was no stopping its success. Many even crossed the state borders to get to watch the film. The movie, in all, grossed a whooping Rs 220 crore at the box office.
