It is not just one or two, it is the entire state that is disturbed by the Youtube video 'Reality - Making of Paradesi' which went viral in under two days. Everybody is not just talking about it, but are also subtly seething inside for this sort of injustice, in the name of direction. The stalwarts of K-town are no exception, which is evident from their tweets:
Actor : Siddharth
"A video of a director hitting his actors in the name of reality is going viral. Can we please have one of actors beating the hell out of him?"
Director : Balaji Mohan
"Paradesi 'reality' teaser sets a bad example to young future filmmakers who consider Bala sir as an idol. This isnt the way to make films."
Producer : Dhayanidhi Alagiri
"I'm a big fan of Bala sir.. He is an icon to the tamil industry.. but I really dunno [sic] what to say after seeing that video.. very disturbed !"
Actor-producer : Udhayanidhi Stalin
"I decided not 2 watch the reality muvi! I shud b building temples for directors Rajesh S.R.Prabhakaran sir!"
Director : Karthik Subburaj
"Heard it's a film made about(?) Human slaves. But the making looks more scarier!"
What does the ace director Bala have to answer to this? Will he speak up at all? We will have to wait for his response. Meanwhile, the film 'Paradesi', starring Adharvaa, Dhansika and Vedhika in the lead, is releasing on Friday, 15th March. It is based on the novel 'Red Tea' by Paul Harris Daniel, which depicts the lives of tea estate workers in the pre-independence period.
