When King Khan Met Kollywood

IndiaGlitz [Monday, May 13, 2013]

A lot has transpired, of high importance, at the Vijay Awards ceremony last evening. Yet another event was the arrival of Sharukh Khan, by a chartered flight, to hit the city at midnight. He spoke, joked, shared, danced, praised and performed, making the evening quite memorable. He was awarded the Chevaliar Sivaji Ganesan Award, which recalled a pleasant memory of the actor's. "When I worked as the assistant organizer for the National Film Awards, on a particular occasion, I accompanied Sivaji Ganesan sir to the stage, where he was to receive the award. As the stair way was uneven, he almost tripped, and held on to my shoulder for grip to steady himself up. Today, to think that I am receiving an award instituted in his name, I am both honoured and humbled" said Sharukh. "I enjoyed working with Tamil actors Kamal Hassan ('Hey Ram') and Ajith ('Asoka') and I love the spirit of Tamil cinema" he added. He urged the otherwise shy Ilayathalapathy to perform a dance with him, for the tunes of 'Google Google' and concluded "I envy Vijay. I feel bad that I do not have a well toned body as his." Vijay'sCheering up the Chennai fans, Sharukh also said "I may own Kolkata Knight Riders but my favourite team in the IPL is Chennai Super Kings."
