It was glitz, glamour and beauty at the Film fare Awards held in Chennai on Saturday. Stars from all south Indian languages and also Bollywood gathered under one roof at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium for the grand and colorful evening.
The show was compered by playback singer Harish Raghavendar and actress Sindhuri with variety entertainment programmes including dance, music and drama featuring big names likes Meghna Naidu, Malavika, Reema Sen among others.
Anniyan walked away with all honors bagging eight awards including awards for:

Asin walked away with the award for the best actress for her performance as Kalpana in Ghajini. Vadivelu was adjudged the best comedian for his role in Chandramukhi. Also first-time lucky was Arya (best new face actor) and Padmapriya (best new face actress). All eyes were on Kamal Haasan, who walked up the stage to present the award to Asin. Vikram was presented the honor by Bollywood star Rekha and Shankar received the trophy from actress Shilpa Shetty. Vikram took the audience permission to invite his mother on the stage and seek her blessings as it happened to be her birthday. Vikram remembered the testing phase of his life when she was a pillar of support to lift his sagging spirits. The likes of Cheran, Dhanush, Jayapradha, Siddharth, Prabhudeva, A M Rathnam, director Lingusamy, cinematographer Ravi K Chandran among others took part in the celebrations. |
