Ashoka, with story, screenplay and direction by Prem, is produced by Indra Prem under the banner A Lotus Film Company.

Prem plays the lead in the film. He dons the role of a Black Cat Commando. Anushri plays the female lead while Pooja Bharathy and Anish play significant roles. The film was formally launched on December 2.

The launch of the film took place at Coimbatore. It is quite unusual that a Tamil film’s muhurat has taken place outside Chennai. When questioned about it, Prem said, “The shoot is happening here in Coimbatore. Besides, we wanted a change as we routinely hold such functions in Chennai.”

This film has music by Sabesh Murali and Brindha takes care of choreography.
