With just a couple of weeks left for the much-awaited Sivaji to hit the screens, it is Sivaji in the lips of every Rajinikanth fan. Expectations on the movie have sky-rocketed to unimaginable heights in Kollywood circles.

The latest buzz is that the AVM Productions have sold the Chennai rights of the magnum opus to noted film exhibitor Abirami Ramanathan.

It may be recalled that the theatre owners convened an emergency meeting in Chennai on Wednesday and arrived at a decision that they will exhibit the movie only if they are given a share in the profits accrued by Sivaji.

According to them, 60 per cent of the first week's collection would go to the distributors and 40 per cent to the theatres. During the second week, 55 per cent would go to the former and the remaining to the latter. It would be 50-50 during the subsequent weeks.

A resolution to this effect was passed by the Tamilnadu Theatre Owners Association in the meeting.

According to the office-bearers, the decision will be applicable to Sivaji and all other films from now on.

Now with AVM selling the Chennai rights to Abirami Ramanathan, a theatre owner himself, it is expected that all issues would be sorted out very soon.

Meanwhile, the release of Sivaji in the neighboring Karnataka may run into rough weather as some pro-Kannada organizations in the state have decided to block all Tamil releases until the Cauvery river water issue is resolved. They are planning agitations to block the simultaneous release of Tamil films in Karnataka.
