"Rameshwaram is a love story of a Lankan refugee", says director Selvam.
Addressing press persons in Chennai on Monday, Selvam said, "Rameshwaram starring Jeeva and Bhavana is an engrossing romantic film and there is nothing political in it".
He denied rumors doing rounds that the movie deals more about the ethnic clash in the neighboring Island nation. “All blockbuster Hollywood movies including Titanic revolve around romance. It forms the backdrop of Rameshwaram. Jeeva plays Sivanandha Rasa, a Lankan refugee who takes refuge at a camp in Mandapam, Rameshwaram. He comes across Bhavana and both develop affair. A major portion of the movie was shot in a dockyard where huge sets replicating the refugee camp were put up. A few scenes are to be shot at Cambodia”, he added.
On his part, Jeeva said, “I was lucky to get a good and an interesting script like Rameshwaram. Hopefully, I will now be recognized by Tamils all over the world”.
The movie has musical score by Niru, who had suffered the pains of civil war in Lanka. N K Ekambaram handles the cinematography and editing by Suresh Urs. |
