“Tamil cinema is combating black market which is eating away the revenue. It should be checked”, said Kamal Haasan.
Speaking at the inaugural session of ‘Indian Cinema - Winds of Change' organized by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce and Madras Film Society on Saturday, the actor said, “Such seminars would enable us to analyze the pros and cons of the industry and would focus on checking the grey that affects our progress.
He also emphasized on the need for forming the self regulatory committee for the Tamil film industry.
“Most of the cinema industry is not professional, as there are no training facilities available for this industry”, he added. US Consul General, David Hopper, said, Indian films are followed with great devotion in the US, principally by the rapidly growing South Asian community. Indian films are also top- grossing foreign films in the US”.
The one-day seminar saw various eminent speakers, analyzing topics on Indian cinema in various segments like innovation in film financing, film content and censorship, corporatising the film industry, redefining producer and distributor relationships. |
