Vishal's Malaikottai will be hitting the screens on 27 September. Directed by Boopathy Pandian and produced by T Rama Rao and Ajay Kumar, the movie features Priya Mani opposite Vishal.

Speaking to media men, Vishal said, “The movie is laced with humor and action and has shaped up really well”.

On being affectionately called Puratchi Thalapathy by his fans, Vishal said, “They call me so out of affection. I am happy that they love me so much”.

It may be recalled that Vijay is called as Ilaya Thalapathy by his fans.

Asked whether he is competing with Vijay, Vishal says,” I am no competitor to anyone in the industry. I just do what the director wants from me”.

On Malaikottai, he says, “I have tried comedy in Malaikottai. Hopefully I have given my best”.

On her part, Priya Mani said, “It was a joy to be part of such a friendly crew and she relished working in the movie”.

Boopathy Pandian says, “The movie is about a youth who hails from Pudukottai. He comes down to Tiruchy with a purpose”.

The movie has musical score by Mani Sharma and cinematography by Vaidhi.
