Kamal Haasan is a rare hero, who channelizes the affection of his fans towards social services rather than using them to boost him image. Last year, he requested his fans to donate blood and organize blood donation camps to celebrate his birthday (November 7).

Around 5000 fans donated blood through ‘Kamal Haasan Narpani Iyakkam’ (Kamal Haasan Social Welfare Movement).

Kamal felicitated some of them who initiated and coordinated the service yesterday (February 10). The felicitation took place in Savitri Ammal Oriental School, located in the campus of Sanskrit Collage in Mylapore, Chennai.

Around 45 persons from various walks of life, belonging to the Narpani Iyakkam, who donated blood on the birthday of their beloved actor, were felicitated. Eight of them are physically challenged persons, while the others are women.
