An event was organized on the 2nd of August by superstar Rajinikanth to give financial aid to the technicians who worked in the film 'Kuselan'. The superstar also announced that he would continue this contribution for the other two movies he is working in. Soundarya Rajinikanth's animation flick 'Sultan – the warrior' and Shankar's 'Robot'.
Rajinikanth has been in the news for his comments during a protest meet over the Hognekkal issue and his subsequent 'regret speech' to the press recently.
Rajinikanth's mentor and director K. Balachander made a well prepared speech defending the superstar by saying that it was an interview to the press that highlighted the regret that Rajinikanth has and was not an apology. He also urged the film fraternity not to build walls within the industry and called upon everybody to be united.
Rajinikanth on his part said, 'if I had mentioned that we should kick those indulging in violence very clearly, all this would never have cropped up. This is a lesson I have learnt'. He also emphasized that we all make mistakes and learn from them. Director P. Vasu, Pyramid Swaminathan and P. T. Vijayakumar were also present on the occasion.
