The audio launch of the film 'Mathiya Chennai' was held in Chennai today.
Speaking on the occasion, Tamil Film Distributors Association president Kalaipuli G Sekaran said, "A film is considered a hit at the box - office only when it brings profits to both producers and the distributors."
"Producers should come forward and do movies in small budget. Only when the distributors thrive, the industry would flourish," he said.
In his address, actor - director Ameer said, "it is the distributors who often compels producers to increase the cost of production. Small-budget movies hardly find favour with them".
Producer and theatre-owner Abirami Ramanathan, Tamil Film Producers Council president Rama Narayanan, secretary Sivasakthi Pandian, veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja, actors Lawrence, Manoj among others took part in the function.
'Mathiya Chennai' features Prakash Raj and newcomer Jeyvanth in lead roles with debutante Ramya Farna as heroine. The movie directed by Vivekanand and Veerasingam. Produced by Raptar Media Films, 'Mathiya Chennai' has musical score by Ilayaraja. |
