The first copy of the book was released by Kamal Haasan and received by  Sujatha.

Speaking on the occasion, Shankar said, 'Kadhal is just the beginning. If I come across good scripts, I am ready to produce ten movies at a time'.

Cinematographer-director Balu Mahendra, Actor-director Parthiban, writer Sujatha, writer Jayamohan spoke on the occasion. Among those who took part in the function included director Bala, actors Prakashraj, Bharath and actress Sandhya.
