After Mercury Pookal a couple of months back, Srikanth's Uyir is now set for a release this summer.

Featuring Malayalam actress Samvrutha and Sangeetha alongside Srikanth, Uyir will grace the theatres on 16 June.

Says Srikanth: 'It's an emotional tale narrated in a gripping manner. One hardly comes across a script like this in one's film career. I am happy to be part of a team that includes seasoned artistes like Sangeetha.'

On her part, debutant Samvrutha says, 'Though I have acted in several Malayalam movies before, it is Uyir that gave me immense pleasure for I am acting in a heroine-centric movie. All were co-operative and I never felt alien'.

Though debutant director Samy did not disclose the story, he said the movie is worth its weight. I have not come out with an extraordinary film but a film that will speak for itself. An usual love story with right twists and turns.

Uyir has musical score by Joshua Sridhar and sets by Thotta Dharani. Produced by R Balaji, it has story, screenplay and dialogues besides direction by Samy.

Uyir is Srikanth's lifeline.
