It was a function that showcased versatile actor Kamal Haasan’s genuine interest in literature. He organized a function to facilitate poet Puviyarasu, who has received Sahitya Academy Award for translated works.

Puviyarasu received the prestigious award for his translation of the poems of Bengal poet Nazrul Islam. Literary personalities like Abdul Rahman, Thilakavathi, and K. Gnanasambantham attended the function held to honor Puviyarasu.

It is worth recalling that Puviyarasu, a long term friend of Kamal, had participated in the discussions of the films 'Hey Ram' and 'Marudhanayagam'.
