The Tamil film industry has decided to go in on a hunger protest on Friday (April 4) to condemn the attacks on Tamils in Karnataka over the Hogenakkal issue.
The meeting was attended by Producers Council president Ramanarayanan, vice- president Sivasakthi Pandian and other office-bearers. On behalf of the actors' association, Vijayakumar and Sathyaraj participated in the meeting and extended their support to the decision taken by the producers.
The resolutions demand all the persons belonging to all the sections of film industry to attend the hunger strike without fail. A resolution specifically states that those who have origin in Karnataka in any form “must” participate without fail. Tamil film industry, a resolution says, will not extend its cooperation to those who fail to turn up to the protest.
It has been decided that no filmy activities be held on the day between 6 AM and 6 PM and that it would apply to the shootings held outside Chennai as well. Even those who would be in foreign locations on the day have not been exempted.
