Making a historical movie is no easy task. But we are confident that with Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's blessings, we would pull it off', says Thyagarajan.
Actor-cum-director Thyagarajan would churn out 'Ponnar – Shankar', the story of two valorous princes Ponnar and Shankar, who lived in Kongumandalam, where they are worshipped even today as 'Gods'.
Addressing media persons, Thyagarajan said, ' it was my desire to make Ponnar Shankar as a movie and I wanted to act in it. However my desire could not materialize. I met Chief Minister Karunanidhi recently and discussed with him about the prospects of making Ponnar Shankar into a movie. He immediately said yes and suggested that Prashanth would be the apt choice to do the roles'.
'We are planning to make it a quality film and budget would not be a problem. It would be sent for several awards including the Oscars', Thyagarajan said sounding very positively.
On his part, Prashanth said, 'I am really thrilled to act in Kalaignar's story. I have been living as Ponnar and Shankar for the past one year.'
'In order to look trim and slim, I am doing rigorous physical exercises. It would match period films made in Hollywood like Brave Heart', says Prashanth.
